SIRIO Launches PlantegrityTM Softgel range
SIRIO Europe – the European nutraceutical and pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) and member of SIRIO Group – launches a new generation plant-based softgel at Vitafoods Europe, using a shell technology based on gellan gum.
The gellan gum softgel will sit alongside the company’s existing plant-based softgel range, using carrageen, providing greater options to nutraceutical brands.
Expressing the efforts of SIRIO to provide industry and consumers with more environmentally sustainable options, the range of plant-based softgels will be launched under the name Plantegrity.
Gellan gum is produced via a naturally fermented process, which means it has a lower environmental impact than rival products. These next generation PlantegrityTM softgels have a wide range of applications and provide improved heat and humidity resistance. The high content of polysaccharides in the shell avoids cross-linking with other ingredients and its robust oxygen barrier ensures freshness of the nutrients.
The shell technology is proprietary to SIRIO, which has spent a significant amount of time and investment to bring this product to market.
The softgels are available to be custom formulated and can be delivered globally, with clean label options providing consumers ‘plant-based’, ‘gluten-free’, and ‘sugar-free’ nutraceuticals. The gellan gum softgel can encapsulate both single ingredient and more complex formulas – from pure oil products (e.g. EPO, CLA, Linseed Oil, Fish Oil, DHA Algal Oil, Vitamin E, Phospholipids, Phosphatidylserine, Vitamin D) to suspensions (e.g. Calcium + Vitamin D). Additionally, there is also the flexibility to have fill weights from just 0.15 grams through to 1.3 grams, and the softgels are available in oval and oblong shapes.
The gellan gum softgel is manufactured in compliance with c-GMP, FDA, IFS, BRC and TGA guidelines.
