About Sirio

Responsibility & Sustainability

Your supply chain is only as responsible as your partners.

Sustainability is not a value statement at SIRIO — it is an operational standard. Our ESG framework is structured around three pillars: environment, people, and climate action. Every decision we make is measured against that framework, because we understand that our performance directly affects yours.

Environment

We measure our environmental performance the same way we measure product quality — against verified, independent standards. Our Shantou and Anhui facilities recorded zero environmental penalties between 2022 and 2024. ISO 14001 certified and recognised as a National Green Factory in 2023, our manufacturing operations are built to meet the expectations of the most compliance-conscious brands in the market.

Environmental performance metrics

  • 2.6M kWh electricity saved annually
  • 26 t plastic eliminated in 2024
  • 63 t virgin PET replaced by RPET
  • 23,300 t water saved per year
  • 100% wastewater compliance rate
  • +40K EUR environmental protection investment 2022–24

 Sustainability and Packaging

  • In 2024 alone, packaging optimisation eliminated approximately 26 tonnes of plastic.
  • Switched 63 tonnes of virgin PET bottles to 100% recyclable RPET — cutting an estimated 182 tCO₂e of emissions annually.
  • Active R&D into biodegradable and recyclable packaging materials to meet customer sustainability expectations.

Clean Production Audit (2023–2024)

  • 28 cleaner production measures implemented, including 23 no-/low-cost and 5 medium-/high-investment projects.
  • Annual savings: 2.6 million kWh of electricity, 23,300 tonnes of water, and 31 tonnes of solid waste.
  • Total investment: RMB 1.89 million. Total annual economic benefit: RMB 566,860.

Climate Action

Measuring, Reducing, Reporting

Third-party verified carbon inventories (ISO 14064:2018) across all manufacturing sites. Product-level carbon footprinting launched in 2024.

Our projected annual carbon reduction from 28 cleaner production initiatives completed by end of 2024 was 1,688 tCO₂e/year.

Organisational Carbon Inventory

Every year, we measure our greenhouse gas emissions across all our manufacturing sites — in Shantou, Guangdong, Anhui, and the USA. This covers direct emissions from our own operations, indirect emissions from the energy we purchase, and the wider impact of our value chain. Our two main sources of emissions are electricity consumption and natural gas combustion. All data is independently verified by Bureau Veritas, giving our clients and partners full confidence in the sustainability numbers we report.

Product Carbon Footprint

In 2024, we went a step further and calculated the carbon footprint of individual products for the first time. Two of our flagship lines were assessed: the Tian Can® Fish Oil Softgel Capsule (6.98 kg CO₂e per kg) and the Plantegrity® Fish Oil Gummy Candy (6.49 kg CO₂e per kg). This level of transparency allows us to identify exactly where emissions occur across a product’s lifecycle — and where we can reduce them. It’s the foundation for our longer-term ambition of developing carbon-neutral products.

Energy Management

All Sirio manufacturing sites operate certified Energy Management Systems under ISO 50001 — the international standard for systematic, measurable energy improvement. Our approach is simple: set clear targets, track performance rigorously, and act on what the data tells us. At our Shantou facility, energy consumption per unit of output has fallen for three consecutive years. Our target for 2025 is a further 5% reduction in energy intensity, year on year.

Supply Chain Decarbonisation

Reducing our own emissions is only part of the picture. In 2024, we began sending greenhouse gas surveys to our suppliers — the first step in understanding and addressing the carbon impact of our wider supply chain. We plan to extend this to a broader supplier base over the next three to five years. As our global SRM system completes its rollout by end of 2025, we will be able to set and track carbon reporting standards consistently across all our suppliers in China, Europe, and the USA.

People

Our People Are Our Foundation

A diverse, inclusive workforce across 5 continents — built on fairness, respect, and genuine opportunity for growth.

2.700+ Employees Worlwide

A truly global team spanning China, Germany, the USA, Singapore, Thailand and beyond — including 442 employees from ethnic minority backgrounds and 29 individuals with disabilities hired in 2024. We attract professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds and believe that a range of perspectives makes us stronger, more innovative, and better equipped to serve our clients around the world. Zero complaints related to child labour, discrimination, or forced labour were recorded in 2024.

22% Women in middle & senior management

We’re actively building a leadership pipeline that reflects the diversity of the world we serve. Gender balance at every level is a priority, not an afterthought. Through targeted development programmes, mentoring, and transparent promotion criteria, we’re creating real pathways for women to grow into senior roles across all our global sites.

11% Employee turnover in China (down from 33%)

People stay when they feel valued. Over the past two years we’ve invested heavily in culture, compensation, and career development — and this number shows it’s working. Lower turnover means more experienced teams, stronger client relationships, and a more stable, resilient organisation overall.

61,244 Training hours in 2024

From new hire bootcamps to executive leadership programmes, we give every employee the tools to grow. That’s an average of over 30 hours of learning per person per year — up 33% versus 2022 — with a total training investment of RMB 4.10 million in 2024. We offer two structured career tracks: a Management pathway (M1–M8) and a Professional pathway (P1–P8), each with transparent promotion criteria and 347 course types available in China alone, and 11 in the USA.

1:1 Gender pay ratio across all roles

Equal work, equal pay — no exceptions. We audit compensation across all positions and geographies to make sure it stays that way. Same role, same contribution, same reward. It’s a standard we hold ourselves to globally, not just where the law requires it. Average salaries consistently exceed local minimum wages across all our markets — 4.21× in China, 1.57× in Germany, and 1.86× in the USA — with an annual salary growth rate of 3.5–8% in 2024.

Zero work-related fatalities or occupational disease cases

For the third consecutive year. Safety isn’t a KPI we chase — it’s a standard we refuse to compromise on, backed by our ISO 45001:2018 certified Occupational Health and Safety Management System and the China Work Safety Standardisation Certificate awarded in 2022. From regular emergency drills to a digital hazard tracking system, every measure is in place to make sure everyone goes home safe. Our Total Recordable Incident Rate target is ≤0.4 per 200,000 man-hours — and we intend to keep it there.

Equal Pay & Compensation

We benchmark salaries against local minimum wages in every market we operate in — and consistently exceed them. In China, our average salary is 4.21× the local minimum. In Germany, 1.57×. In the USA, 1.86×. On top of base pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including statutory entitlements, lifestyle bonuses, and targeted support for employees facing difficult personal circumstances.
