A SIRIO Guide to Barcelona: Where to Eat, Drink, and Enjoy the City During Vitafoods Europe
With Vitafoods Europe returning to Barcelona, the city will once again welcome visitors from across the global nutraceutical industry. Between meetings, booth visits, and evening events, finding time to enjoy Barcelona can be a challenge. That’s why we’ve put together a short, practical guide to help you make the most of your stay.
Our Head of Brand, Maria Pavlidou, is based in Barcelona and, together with colleagues who’ve experienced past Vitafoods editions here, has curated a list of trusted favourites. These are places our team genuinely returns to, whether for business dinners, casual lunches, or a well-earned drink after a long day.
1. Botafumeiro
For seafood lovers and business-friendly dining, Botafumeiro is a long-standing Barcelona institution. Known for its high-quality fish and classic service, it’s a reliable choice for hosting customers or partners in a calm, professional setting.
2. Casa Lolea
If you’re looking for a more relaxed and social atmosphere, Casa Lolea is a great option. It’s particularly famous for its variety of gourmet sangrías, alongside Spanish-inspired dishes designed for sharing, making it ideal for informal dinners or small group gatherings.
3. Orvay
For traditional tapas with a local feel, Orvay is a neighbourhood favourite. Expect classic tapas, a laid-back atmosphere, and a pace that feels refreshingly unpretentious after a busy day at the show.
4. El Chiringuito Escribà
If you’re planning a seaside lunch, El Chiringuito Escribà is a strong choice for paella by the beach. A useful local tip: paella is traditionally eaten at lunchtime rather than in the evening, making it an ideal option if you’re extending your stay or have a lighter meeting schedule one day.
5. Jacqueline
For a more contemporary dinner setting, Jacqueline offers a stylish yet comfortable environment that works well for smaller groups and conversation-focused meals.
6. El Xampanyet
To end the day on a truly local note, El Xampanyet is a must. This nearly century-old wine bar, it’s famous for its house-made “xampanyet”, a lightly sparkling cava served with classic tapas. It’s lively, authentic, and often busy, but well worth the stop for a quick drink and bite.
Barcelona rewards those who plan just a little time beyond the trade show. We hope these recommendations help you enjoy the city even more. We look forward to welcoming you during Vitafoods Europe and wish you a productive and enjoyable stay in Barcelona.
